Evelin and Josue’s first experience at Casa de Esperanza was a simple afternoon recreation visit with their church. They had no idea what was in store for them at the community later. Fast forward several years, and Josue and Evelin learned through a relative about Casa de Esperanza’s search for staff to come and work with the children. Days passed, and neither Josue nor Evelin could get the idea of working with Horizon out of their heads. They got connected with staff at the community, where they now parent six heart-adopted and four biological children. Both Evelin and Josue’s passion for their work with the children shows. “We like to see God’s hand working and lives being touched, with key differences from what they might be experiencing at home, where many of them would be facing very serious problems. What they experience here is very different, since everything is done to change the course of their lives for the better,” they said.
